Mobile Infrastructure
Solution

Engineered for repeated transport and rapid deployment between municipal water treatment sites.

This project involved the structural transformation of a new 40-foot Double Door ISO container into a highly modified transportable enclosure for a mobile drinking water treatment plant.

The engineering scope focused on maintaining structural integrity despite extensive modifications, while providing sufficient installation space for the client’s water treatment equipment and ensuring reliable transportation between multiple deployment locations.

  • Structural redesign of new 40′ Double Door container
  • Collaborative 3D engineering with client
  • FEM structural verification
  • Sliding roof system
  • Folding side access door
  • Reinforced equipment foundation
  • Internal service compartment
  • Thermal insulation and ventilation
  • CE / EN 1090 / ISO 3834 manufacturing

Engineering note
This project was manufactured under POLKONT’s certified production system. POLKONT holds EN 1090-1 and ISO 3834-3 certifications issued by TÜV SÜD, supporting compliance with European requirements for structural steel fabrication and welding quality.

The project required maintaining the structural rigidity of an ISO container after removing a complete corner post, introducing a sliding roof, multiple service openings and large equipment access panels while preserving safe transportability and long-term operational durability.
  • Maintaining structural stiffness after extensive modifications
  • Supporting heavy technological equipment
  • Enabling trailer transport between deployment sites
  • Providing unrestricted service access
  • Integrating future customer equipment
  • Minimizing installation constraints

Structural modifications included:

  • Removal of original corner post
  • Custom folding access door
  • Large sliding roof opening
  • Reinforced structural framework
  • FEM-verified structural redesign
  • Reinforced machine foundation
  • Steel internal mounting grid
  • Integrated service floor for concealed cable routing

The project was developed using a collaborative 3D design workflow between POLKONT structural engineers and the customer’s process engineering team.

Continuous exchange of engineering models enabled precise coordination of structural modifications, equipment interfaces and installation requirements before manufacturing.

  • transport on trailer
  • lifting operations
  • operational support on ground

The analysis verified deformation limits and structural safety after all planned modifications.

  • Floor structure engineered for rotating equipment loads
  • Acoustic perforated steel wall lining for noise reduction
  • Technical ventilation system
  • Dedicated operator compartment
  • Service access doors
  • Inspection hatches
  • Equipment installation interface
  • Utility penetrations for process systems
  • Hidden retractable access stairs

Its transportable design enables rapid deployment to different locations while maintaining continuous drinking water production.
